Organized by the California African American Museum (CAAM) and Art + Practice (A+P), the Points of Access series continues with a focus on artists and their need to build a sustained practice. The series was developed as an outlet for artists of all stages to receive practical information on creating a sustainable career and practice for themselves. This year, Points of Access is focusing on a central theme: Documentation.
This first installment of a four-part series exploring documentation as an intentional and value-driven process will be run by CAAM. It looks at the importance of publishing and text-based efforts for artists. CAAM Deputy Director and Chief Curator Cameron Shaw moderates an engaging conversation with Cassandra Press co-creator Kandis Williams, Sming Sming Books & Objects imprint creator Vivian Sming, and founding editor of ARTS. BLACK Jessica Lynne.
